Health and Fitness Enhancement – Personal Training
Through a combined 38 years of providing Physical Therapy Roland and Stefania have observed that many of their clients are in poor states of health and fitness. Aside from being injured they frequently see problems with obesity, increased percentage body fat, muscle weakness, poor flexibility, poor posture, high blood pressure and poor cardiovascular endurance.
Iterestingly, many of these clients are exercising regularly and some even workout with personal trainers. In these cases the exercise program is ineffective.
They felt that the health and fitness needs of many the members of the community were not being met by existing options, such as working out at home or a gym or using a personal trainer.
Roland and Stefania have devised a program to enhance the health and fitness of injured and the uninjured.
As licensed Physical Therapists Roland and Stefania have far superior training in health, disease, injury rehabilitation and prevention than most personal trainers.
Health and Fitness Program
The program will begins with a detailed assessment (one hour long session) of the 5 systems relevant to health and fitness; joint range of motion and flexibility; muscular strength; body weight and percentage body fat; cardiovascular fitness and endurance; posture and balance. Some basic medical information will be reviewed to assess risk factors to initiating exercise, in some situations clients will need to get medical clearance from their primary care physician. Any current and prior injuries will be assessed so that the exercise program designed includes any necessary preventative and rehabilitative exercises. Appropriate exercise goals will be developed in consultation with each client. Upon completion of the initial consultation an exercise program will be designed based upon each client’s current state of health, injuries, risk factors and access to exercise equipment.
This is followed by a 1 hour session of instruction in the specifics of the client’s individual program. This will also involve training in various strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as, the specifics of the cardiovascular/aerobic training.
Our goal is to get the client on to an effective home or gym program and then recheck them every 6 to 8 weeks. When we recheck the client we will look to measure any improvement in important health measures identified in the initial consultation. Based upon results we will upgrade their program depending upon if they met their goals and if they we able to succeed in performing their program.
If very few goals were met then the program will be modified to make it more effective.
Some clients may feel like they are more effective if the attend regular supervised training sessions in our clinic. This benefit of doing training like this is that we can typically train at a higher intensity, we can also perform manual stretching and massage if needed.
